ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Grace Dacanay-Chong has authored 64 published books
to date (2025) and has won six Palanca awards. Her
devotional book Grace Found Me won in the
inspirational category of the 2012 Gintong Aklat
Awards; her book Look for the Star was awarded best
Asian book in the Samsung Competition in Singapore in
2017. Her other books have also been finalists in the
Catholic Mass Media Awards and National Book Awards.
Grace was conferred the Gawad Balagtas Lifetime
Achievement Award for children’s literature in 2019.
Aside from creative writing, Grace has been a part-time
lecturer in Critical Writing, Marketing, and Creative
Management at Southville International School
Affiliated with Foreign Universities (SISFU), where she
has been awarded Most Outstanding Faculty. She also
teaches English at Optimum TransSchool, Inc., a medical
transcription training center, and conducts writing
workshops here and abroad.
Before going into book writing in the year 2001,
Grace was Executive Vice President/Creative Director at
a multinational advertising agency. Grace holds degrees
in Speech and Drama (UP), Mass Communications
(Columbia College, USA), and Fine Arts (Chicago Art
Institute). She and her late husband Tony (+) were
blessed with three sons, a daughter-in-law and a
grandson.
